Fall Plans Are Coming Together

As I mentioned Sunday, fall plans are coming together! Lord-willing, here’s a brief run-down of what’s coming up over the next month plus:

On September 19^th, Doug is going to be awarded a Quilt of Valor honoring his many years of military service. It will be at 5pm at the Montgomery Community Building (14420 Liberty Street). If you would like to come be a part, be sure to send Barbara a note so she can plan for refreshments.

October 8^th will be our anniversary Sunday. This is a chance for us as church family to commemorate and celebrate God’s faithfulness to us over the last year. Darrel will be in to preach. Also, we will be enjoying lunch together as well as some fun games for the kids. (Please note that lunch will be in lieu of our first Sunday lunch.)

October 21^st we are very excited to welcome Ken Mellinger from Redemption Hill, our sister church in Round Rock, down to do a parenting seminar. That will be from 9-12, but plan to arrive 30 minutes early. The first session will start promptly and will be on shepherding our children’s hearts. And, the second session will be focused on parenting the younger years. There will be a time for Q&A as well. We are working on providing child-care for that event. So, if you plan to attend, please shoot me an email with number of kids.

November 5^th we have scheduled another baptism. If you have any interest in being baptized or just want to know more about it, please reach out! I would love to talk with you on that.

Whew! I think that’s all for now. But, as we know, our hope isn’t in the planning, but in the praying. So please do join us in praying for each of those things. We are eager for the Spirit’s power and presence.

Our Faithful God

Hey Church Family,

Thank you very much for sticking around after the service for our family meeting this past week. First off, it served as a reminder of how faithful God has been to our local church all these years (& many of YOU are expressions of that!). Second, it filled me with a sense of faith and anticipation of what He has for us in the months and years ahead. Truly, He is the Good Shepherd who leads us out and then goes before us!

This Sunday is our First Sunday Lunch. So, don’t forget to bring a dish to share and please take advantage of that unhurried time together. We do still need one host volunteer. If you haven’t served yet, please consider doing so this round. Our hope is to not overburden anyone in hosting these.

Also, I am very eager to celebrate communion together as a body this week. It gets sweeter every time!

Nothing Sweeter

It’s hard to describe how excited I am about this upcoming Sunday and the launch of Christ Church Kids! It brought tears to my eyes as I remembered Paul’s eagerness to serve the Philippians’ progress and joy in the faith, because I have seen that same heart at work in you as you serve our children. Few things are sweeter than that.

For now, we plan to have the younger class (8 months- 2 yr) each week and the older class (3-7 yr) every 1st & 3rd Sunday. If you have children participating, please come a little earlier to get a security tag before the service. And please join in praying for God to pour out His grace through this ministry, asking that all they hear would take deep root in their little hearts and minds and would bear lasting fruit in the years to come.

Countless Blessings!

Hey Church Family,

As Thanksgiving approaches, it’s a wonderful opportunity to remember the countless things we have to thank God for, the greatest of which is the gift of His only Son so that we could be saved from our sins. We don’t ever want that to become common place to us.

And, in God’s providence, it just so happens that the next two Sundays are going to be on that glorious reality from Philippians 2:5-11. If you think of it, please pray for those messages. I feel inadequate to even begin to scratch the surface of this “Treasure”. Words fail. But I know He is eager to honor Christ and to richly bless us as His people. And because of that, let’s ask and come anticipating an encounter with Him!

Asking God’s Spirit to Meet Us

I want to tell you how thankful I am for the clear grace of God on display each week. Eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to apply God’s Word are a divine gift. And that’s what is happening in our gatherings every Sunday. God is moving!!!

Towards that end, we have begun getting together in the library every Sunday prior to the meeting from 9:45-10 to pray over all aspects of the services, asking God’s Spirit to meet us as only He can. Anyone is welcome to join in that, we would love to have you! And even if you can’t make it then, let me encourage us all to use at least part of the drive in each week to pray along those lines. He is eager to bless us as we gather. So, let’s be asking!

If for some reason you miss a worship service, just know we’ll miss you, but Ron does a great job of getting the service uploaded quickly so you can stay connected. And in all things, as you’re doing so excellently, let’s press on in serving each another well!
